How can my client submit a transfer?


How long will it take for the funds to arrive?

  • Account transfers typically take 3 to 5 weeks (once the transfer forms have been signed) to arrive in your client's account. Unfortunately, this timeline is largely dictated by how quickly the relinquishing institution processes the transfer.
  • Please note that more complex transfers (i.e. RESPs, and Pension transfers) can take longer. 


How can I check the status of transfers in-progress?

  • Your clients have access to the transfers in progress through their personal Assante Connect Client Dashboard. They just log in to their account, click "Transfer Funds", and all withdrawals, transfers, and deposits will be listed. 
  • You can also get in contact with us any time and we would be happy to give you an update. 
  • In the future, this information will also be available directly on your Assante Connect Advisor Dashboard. Stay tuned for updates.


Who can I contact?

Will I be notified when the transfer is completed?

  • We will send you a notification the first time funds are deposited in your client's account and each time a transfer from an external institution is received.


Can my client sign the transfer forms electronically?

  • Sometimes. Not all institutions accept e-signed forms and we will need to have the client wet sign the forms sometimes.

Can my client transfer their assets in-kind?

  • Yes. However, Assante Connect is a discretionary Portfolio Manager and we will sell the holdings once they arrive so we can invest them in the portfolio model selected.
  • Sometimes in-kind transfers can cause delays at the relinquishing institution and we recommend doing them in cash whenever possible.


Will Assante Connect reimburse transfer fees?

  • Yes. For transfers over $25,000, we offer refunds for fees up to $150 (does not apply to sales charges).
  • To apply, just send a statement showing the charge to [email protected] and the refund will be credited to the client's Assante Connect account. 


Do I need to do anything to invest the funds?

  • No. Our Portfolio Managers will invest the account in the portfolio model your client selected shortly after their funds arrive.
