How can my client submit a transfer?

When submitting transfers to Assante Connect, a statement is uploaded through the client's dashboard then our team will take care of the paperwork and coordinate the process with the relinquishing institution.

Step 1 - Open accounts

  • Invite your client to sign up to Assante Connect and open any accounts they need
  • You can learn more about this in our article, Account Opening Process.

Step 2 - Upload a statement

  • The client can access the account transfer page by clicking 'Transfer Funds' below:

  • Then they use the 'Transfer' option;

  • From here, the client will enter the Transfer Workflow
  • On the next page, the client will be able to select the account where he/she wishes to bring his/her investment into. Note, that we can only transfer from and to an account of the same type. For example, we can transfer an RRSP from another financial institution to the client's RRSP account at Assante Connect. If the client does not have the same account type with Assante Connect, he/she will be able to click on 'open one first' during the transfer process.
  • On the next screen, the client will be asked to let us know how he/she wants to transfer the account:
    • Entire Account: All investments will be sold and transferred as cash.
    • Partial amount (cash only): No investments will be sold. The amount must already be in cash. You will be required to enter an amount.
  • Once the client has made the selection, he/she will be asked to upload a statement. From the Desktop, the client can either drag the account statement into the grey box or click the box, then select the statement from his/her computer. The document must be legible as the document may be required with the transfer by the relinquishing institution.
  • To avoid any delays, please make sure the statement includes:
    • Relinquishing institution name
    • Account number
    • Client name (must match exactly)
  • Note that Assante Connect will follow up with your client directly if additional information is required.

Step 3 - Creating the forms

  • Assante Connect pre-fills the account transfer form and sends it to the client for signing.
  • If the forms can be signed electronically, we will use Adobe Sign and email them.
  • You can find more information about this in the article, How can my client sign transfer forms?

Step 4 - Processing the forms

  • Once Assante Connect receives the signed forms, we will submit them for processing.
  • Most transfers can be expected to arrive within 2-5 weeks.
  • Please see the article, Processing Timelines for details.
